On January 25-26, 2017, the CIO Council Accessibility Community of Practice (ACOP) hosted a workshop on the Technology Accessibility Playbook, which helps federal agencies create mature Section 508 programs. Thirty participants from 16 federal agencies attended the workshop, including Section 508 Program Managers, Developers and Procurement Specialists.

On September 28, 2015, Federal Section 508 Coordinators gathered to discuss how to strengthen the Federal Approach to Accessibility Program management. Sessions included both discussions of GSA’s Governmentwide Section 508 Program and future vision for services and tools and discussions of how to measure Section 508 Program maturity. The breakout session called, “Leveraging the Data” by Katie Pittman, CIOC Accessibility Community of Practice, is described below.
GSA’s Governmentwide Section 508 Program Team just returned from the 2015 Section 508 Interagency Accessibility Forum: Sharing Accessible Solutions with Everyone hosted by HHS on Oct 20, 2015. This forum was a chance for federal employees and contractors to share best practices, learn about new technologies, and network with other federal employees to broaden the dialog concerning Section 508 accessibility and inclusion.
